Three Airdrie Flight Attendants with WestJet were off shift, hailing a cab in Gander, Newfoundland when a scene behind them drew their attention.

What Renee Paris, Sherri Baker, and Lindsay Cole saw was an 82 year-old woman who had collapsed, with little help being given to the woman in distress.

All three women dropped their luggage and leapt into action, putting their emergency training to the test.

Paris ran through the airport to find a defibrillator while her co-workers assessed the woman who was not breathing and began CPR.

The ladies were able to revive the woman before EMS arrived but she did not regain consciousness before being transported to the hospital.

"We were able to help her get to the hospital and she was there in the ICU for a coupe of days, and WestJet flew her family down to say their goodbyes before she passed," said Paris.

Paris was thankful for the training she took during her 6 week orientation that prepared her for this situation but she said it was a lot different than practicing on a 'dummy'.

"When it's someone right there in front of you that you've spoken to on the flight, it's different."

All three woman have returned home but the memory of that day will never leave them.
