Alberta Emergency Alerts carried out their province-wide test to cell phones last Wednesday (May 9th) but not everyone got the alert.

In an e-mail sent to AIR 106.1, Chris Boudreau with Emergency Alerts says “we are working with the federal government, wireless service providers, and the company running the national Alert ready system, Permolex, to review the results of the wireless public alert test that took place today in Alberta and across the country. Officials from the Alberta Emergency Management Agency are working together with all organizations involved to understand what happened across the country and what can be done to strengthen the system before a real emergency takes place.”

Boudreau also said that only compatible smartphones on a 4G LTE network will receive the alerts.

The next province-wide test for emergency alerts is on June 20th, but that will only broadcast on Television and Radio.
