While the snow and wind didn't cause too much trouble for drivers in Airdrie, it was a different story outside of the City.

Poor road conditions, low visibility and multiple collisions forced Highway 1 to close from Strathmore to Brooks earlier today.

The highway has since reopened but drivers are asked to use caution as winter conditions remain.

RCMP also advised travellers to avoid Highway 3 from Fort MacLeod to the B.C. border due to blowing snow slippery roads.

Emergency crews also responded to several incidents near High River and on Northbound QEII near Ponoka.

Many areas south of Airdrie and Calgary are also under snowfall warnings including Okotoks and Claresholm, while other cities such as Lethbridge and Medicine Hat are under a blowing snow advisory.

The Government of Alberta has already a travel advisory for most of Southern Alberta and encourage you to check with 511 Alberta for the latest updates on road conditions.
