Shortly before 9:30 a.m on Friday, September 2, Cochrane EMS responded to a call in the community of Redwood Meadows, where a child had been struck by a vehicle.

Upon arrival, paramedics found a 3 year-old boy had sustained a serious lower arm injury and other soft tissue injuries after being struck by a pick-up truck that was reversing out of its driveway.

Due to the nature of the injuries and the distance to the Children's Hospital, EMS ground crews requested STARS Air ambulance to transport the child.

When the child left the scene, paramedics said the boy was in stable non-life threatening condition.

RCMP are currently conducting an investigation into the events that lead to the incident.
