On September 21, three Rocky View County Fire Services firefighters were honoured at the 2011 Fire Services Exemplary Medal awards for Southern Alberta. Ron Wenstrom, Bob Wenstrom and Clark Graham received 20-year service medals. All three joined the same day two decades ago and work out of the Langdon Fire Hall. Rocky View County Fire Chief Ken McMullen says he's very proud of their accomplishments.

Lieutenant Governor of Alberta, The Honourable Donald S. Ethell presented the awards. In total, 78 firefighters from across southern Alberta, both professionals and volunteers, were recognized for their service. The awards were established in 1985 by Her Majesty The Queen, and the medal is silver with a red and yellow ribbon. It incorporates crossed axes, a hydrant, and a stylized Maltese Cross, an internationally recognized symbol of the fire prevention community. Both are superimposed on a maple leaf, the standard background symbol of Canadian Honours.
