The Airdrie Aces Athletics Club had a big competition over the weekend.

The club took 36 athletes to the Jack Simpson Open at the University of Calgary on Sunday (January 7).

Princess Roberts, Liam Good and Tayemak Kelsick were named Athletes of the Meet by the club for their outstanding performances. Roberts took first place in the Open Women's 16+ 300m run with a time of 40.67 seconds. Good placed second in the 13 year old boys 1200m run with a time of 4:20.48, beating his previous personal best by 45 seconds. Kelsick took first place in three events, running the 60m sprint in 9.85 seconds, the 150m in 24.35 seconds and the 400m in 1:20.17 minutes.

Noah Aman also had a standout performance, winning the 10 and under boys 60 metre sprint with a time of 9.95 seconds.

Two relay teams also saw success. The peewee boys 4x200m relay team comprised of Sehaj Grewal, Balkaran Dhillon, Udahy Bath and Eric Klemm won their event with a 2:38.75 minute race. Heidi Klemm, Aisha LernarKardash, Kayla Novak and Ashlyn Mack all put in the effort to win the bantam girls 4x200m with a 2:27.88 minute race.
