Airdrie still sits at the top of Rocky View School's (RVS) three-year capital plan when it comes to funding requests.

At yesterday's Rocky View Schools Board of Trustees meeting, a presentation was heard about what RVS will request for funding over the next three years, 2025, 2026 and 2027.

  1. High School in Airdrie located in Southwinds (was approved design funding). 2025 funding request.
  2. K-9 school in Chestermere (was approved for design funding). 2025 funding request.
  3. High school in Chestermere. 2025 funding request.
  4. K-8 school in Airdrie, located in Lanark. 2025 funding request.
  5. K-8 school in Cochrane. 2026 funding request.
  6. High school in Cochrane. 2026 funding request.
  7. K-9 school in Chestermere. 2026 funding request.
  8. K-8 school in Crossfield. 2026 funding request.
  9. Addition to the Middle school in Springbank. 2027 funding request.
  10. Middle school in Airdrie, located in the northwest. 2027 funding request.

The trustees did vote to approve the 2025-2028 capital plan priorities as presented, directing the administration to submit the priorities to Alberta Education. Just recently, it was announced Airdrie will see full construction funding for two new K-8 schools. These schools will hopefully be built within the next few years.

According to RVS, they see an increase of 750 to 1,000 new students annually.
