A local actress will soon show the world her darker side as part of a new television mini-series.

Sara Ortman, who is originally from the U.K., was given a big role in the upcoming series "Angel Dust" alongside actor Daniel Baldwin.

The show follows the story of Gabriel, an angel sent to earth to help humans, one at a time, and must complete his final assignment, helping a woman named Christine to return back to heaven.

However, the devil, named Luci, played by Ortman, starts a war in heaven and tries to recruit Gabriel to help.

Ortman recalls auditioning for the production but originally tried for a smaller role. When she didn't hear back for some time, she became discouraged and nearly gave up on the project. That's when she finally heard back from the show's creator, Chrystal Snow.

"(She said), would you mind reading for Luci? So I read and I did the audition and she contacted me about a week later and offered me the role."

She added getting into character and playing a villain was something she enjoyed doing.

"It's a character I've always wanted to play. I'm very fortunate, very lucky. Chrystal and the team have been amazing and very supportive."

According to IMBD, the show is in post-production with a release date sometime later this year or in 2022.

Few details have been released about the mini-series in terms of further story details and where the show will air.

Before taking the role in "Angel Dust" Ortman played the Mayor in an episode of the popular Canadian series "Heartland."
