Wednesday (November 1) saw the beginning of the Rocky View volleyball playoffs, with some Airdrie teams advancing out of the quarterfinals and some not faring as well.

In the senior boys competition, the Bert Church Chargers easily moved on to the next round after winning three straight sets against the Cochrane Cobras. The Croxford Cavaliers didn't have the same luck, dropping three straight sets and the match against the Springbank Phoenix.

All three Airdrie senior girls teams saw quarterfinal action, with only one making it out unscathed. The George McDougall Mustangs lost their first set to the Bow Valley Bobcats but rebounded and won three in a row to claim the victory.

The Bert Church Chargers fought hard against the Springbank Phoenix. It all came down to a fifth set, which the Chargers lost 15-10 to end their playoff run. The Croxford Cavaliers were also eliminated after losing three straight sets to the Chestermere Lakers.

On the JV side, one Airdrie team was guaranteed a spot in the semifinals, and the Croxford Cavaliers claimed it after winning three of four sets against the Chargers.

The junior girls Chargers were also eliminated at the hands of the Chestermere Lakers, losing three straight sets.

The semifinals get underway on November 6.
