This season, the U15 AAA Airdrie Xtreme is looking for the same outcome as last season, to become provincial champions once again.

Last season they had a record of 33-1 heading into the playoffs. 10 athletes of last year's Airdrie Xtreme were selected in the Western Hockey League Prospects Draft.

Newly appointed Head Coach of the Xtreme, Alec Miller is excited about his new role.

"I tell the boys, I always wanted to be in their shoes growing up playing for the Xtreme. Being on the other side of things, it's an absolute honour and privilege to be a part of the Xtreme family going forward."

Coming off a provincial championship, Miller does believe the Xtreme has the tools needed this year to have another strong season.

"I think we have a really good foundation to take the league [by] storm this year. Big shoes to fill [coming off a provincial championship], but I think we have the group put together now that can really make a run at it."

Before coaching with the Xtreme this year, Miller [who lives in Cochrane] was a coach for the U15 Bow Valley Timberwolves.

The Airdrie Xtreme's regular season kicks off Saturday, September 30 at the Ron Ebbesen Arena. They are playing the Lethbridge Val Matteoti Golden Hawks at 5 p.m.
