Airdronian Josh Davies has just signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Florida Panthers.

Davies was selected with the 186th overall pick in the 6th round in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft by the Florida Panthers on July 7.

"I was honestly starstruck when my agent called me and said, 'would you like to sign your first professional contract?' I didn't believe him at first."

Davies mentioned the first thing he did after he got the call was to tell his parents.

"It was a cool moment to share with my parents and my sister. They got super emotional from all the sacrifices that they have made to get me to where I am."

Davies is having a stellar final season of his junior hockey career with the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League (WHL). He has over 30 points while only playing 25 games.

Davies will play out the rest of the season with the Winterhawks with the hopes of making the Panthers next season. If he does not make it with the Panthers he could end up playing for the Charlotte Checkers (Florida's AHL team) or he can play one more year with the Winterhawks.

Davies skated in one preseason game with the Panthers this season, a 5-2 win over the Nashville Predators that saw the 19-year-old register an assist, two hits and two shots on net in nearly 17 minutes played.

Davies will be attending all the training camps possible with the Panthers when the next season rolls around. He is also prepared for a busy off-season to do what he can to make the Panthers.

The Portland Winterhawks' next game is against the Wenatchee Wild on Wednesday night.
