With the State of Local Emergency still in place for Airdrie, along with the advice from the province to keep social-distancing, and restrictions on limiting gatherings to less than 15 people, city council will once again gather at their respective home computers today (May 4) for another virtual council meeting.

And, as if the way they'll be meeting today wasn't enough reminder of the COVID-19 pandemic, a presentation on the agenda will again put the crisis front and centre before council members.

Airdrie's Director of Community Services Michelle Lock and Clay Aragon, the Manager of Recreation Culture and Social Planning will present information on the Emergency Social Service response to meeting the needs of vulnerable populations in collaboration with social service agencies.  The presentation will be on how the city is using a holistic approach to support residents to help themselves and others to cope with their social and mental health.

Sharon Pollyck, the Director of the CAO's Office and City Clerk will be asking council to make two proclamations of special weeks at the meeting.  Council will be asked to proclaim the week of May 5th to the 11th as National Hospice and Palliative Care Week in Airdrie to show support for clients and their families that are in palliative care.

The second proclamation request will ask council to make the week of May 17th to 23rd National Public Works Week in the city.  The week would recognize the dedication of city public works staff.

Today's meeting via Dell, HP, Apple, Acer and whatever other brands of computers Airdrie City Council is using starts today at 3:30 pm.  Members of the public wishing to watch the proceedings can do so at airdrie.ca/livecouncil.
