On Tuesday, June 4th, during Seniors Week, Volunteer Airdrie is hosting its annual Luncheon and Wellness Fair for seniors and disabled persons.

The event will take place at the Town & Country Centre. Doors will open at 11:00 AM, with a late lunch served, accompanied by speeches from dignitaries and entertainment by the Balzac Kitchen Party.

Dave Maffitt from Volunteer Airdrie shared his enthusiasm for the event, noting the excitement about celebrating Seniors Week with about 250 to 300 attendees. He highlighted the importance of well-being for seniors and disabled residents.

"It's really about well-being right and for our seniors and disabled residents, they're often the forgotten demographic in our community and seniors week is just a great way to celebrate the contributions of seniors, not just in the past, but what they're doing now, they're very active in our community."

He went on to say that Seniors Week is an excellent opportunity to honour their contributions, both past and present, and promote opportunities for them to remain involved in their retirements. This involvement not only enhances their well-being but also benefits the community as a whole.

During the event they will be simultaneously holding the Seniors-Serving Organization Trade Fair from 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM which will feature a wide variety of services and suppliers, providing seniors with alternatives and resources that may not be readily available in the area. By bringing these vendors to Airdrie, the event aims to offer a convenient setting for seniors to engage with service providers face-to-face.
