According to the city, the lane closure is needed in order to repair the water main and sanitary/storm sewer under warranty. The times of the lane closures have yet to be announced. Traffic in both directions will be reduced to one lane.

The City is also reminding residents that beginning next weekend, between Saturday, July 15 till Monday, July 17, due to the major railway track repairs, Yankee Valley Boulevard will be closed between Main Street and Luxstone Boulevard/Coopers Crossing Gate. The closure will begin at 6 a.m. on Saturday, July 15 and is scheduled to reopen at 6 a.m. on Monday, July 17.

The detours routes during this closure will mean that there will be no through traffic during this time.

"The detour will be via Luxstone Blvd. or Coopers Crossing Gate for eastbound local traffic. Eastbound commercial truck traffic will be directed to use 8 Street or 24 Street. Westbound traffic will be detoured to either northbound or southbound Main Street."

Motorists are asked to consider using Veteran's Blvd. as an alternative east-west route, as significant delays are expected due to the road closure.

"Commercial truck traffic will only be allowed to take the southbound route on Main St., as northbound is a non-truck route. This closure is due to a significant track repair by Canadian Pacific Kansas City," The City stated.
