A boy who was swimming with friends in the Bow River east of the Seebe Dam is presumed to have drowned after being swept under the water.  

Cochrane RCMP say in a release that yesterday afternoon (August 8) at 1:21 pm they responded to the report of a male youth who was missing in the river.  The boy was said to be swimming in the water with some of his friends when he was swept under while attempting to swim across the Bow.  

Kananaskis Search and Rescue, Cochrane Search and Rescue and conservation officers are working closely with the Cochrane RCMP in a search and rescue and recovery operation.  They have not located the boy yet.

The RCMP say an update will be provided when more information becomes available.  

Seebe is located approximately 54 km west of Cochrane.
