The three people running for two vacant Crossfield Town Council seats will have the chance to let voters in the town know where they stand on community issues tonight (April 27) when the Town of Crossfield hosts its Candidates Forum.

The three who've let their names stand for the two positions to be elected during the by-election on May 10th are Joanne Cornelssen, Jean Gauthier and Mike Knight.

Because of COVID-19 gathering restrictions, tonight's forum is closed to the public but will be live-streamed on the town's YouTube page.  Anyone who wants to ask the candidates a question is asked to submit it prior to the forum by email to town@crossfieldalberta.com  or by posting to the YouTube page by 8:00 pm tonight.

The forum gets underway at 7:00 pm.  Two hours have been allotted for the forum.  The format will include introductions of the candidates, a question and answer period followed by closing arguments.  Depending on the number of questions submitted, the forum may end prior to the two-hour allotted time.

Bob Rodgers, an independent mediator will be in charge of the evening.

The advance poll for the byelection goes tomorrow (April 28) from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in Council Chambers at the Crossfield Town Office located at 1005 Ross Street.

Election Day is Monday, May 10th at the Crossfield Community Centre.  Polls open at 10:00 am and voting goes until 8:00 pm.

The by-election was made necessary by the death of councillor Devin Helfrich in January and the resignation due to personal medical reasons of Deputy Mayor Glenn Price in March.
