Bill Leschasin loves his 1954 GMC pick up.

Leschasin was showing off his classic, along with other members of the Time Travelers Car Club of Airdrie during the 5th Anniversary Show 'n Shine at Davis Chev GMC Buick in Airdrie on Saturday.

Leschasin says about 12 to 15 members of the club were on hand to show off their vehicles out of around 40 members of the club. He says he got hooked on restoring classics by his son-in-law.

"It all started when my son-in-law asked me if I knew where there was a Chevy '80 pick up because he wanted to work on one, so I knew a guy who had one and he bought it, brought it home and started it and he got me hooked so I ended up buying this and putting it together."

"This" is a '54 GMC that Leschasin found at Two Hills in 2014.

"All it had was a box, a cab and a frame.  There was no doors, no front fenders, no hood, no seats in it so I've scrounged all that stuff together and over three years got what you see here."

Leschasin says he's had his truck appraised at $21,000.  "How much I have in it, I don't know."  He laughs, "I don't want to know."

Leschasin says he tries to get to one Show 'N Shine a week, all things considered.

"Sometimes if it's raining I don't go.  Sometimes family comes up, especially towards fall, I've got a grandson who plays for the Calgary Dinos so we've got to go to those."

The Time Travelers Car Club are planning their 2017 Airdrie Summer Classic which goes Saturday, August 12th at Nose Creek Park.
