With what seems to be nine days of on-and-off rain, where does Airdrie sit when it comes to precipitation levels?

The first 12 days of June were dry, but since then, we have had rain every single day. As of Thursday, we have had a total of 64.5 millimetres (mm) of rain.

Even though we have seen a lot of rain, we are still far away from setting records or even the normal, explained Sara Hoffman, Meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada.

"The normal for the month of June is 94 millimetres of rain. We're still around 30 millimetres away. No daily precipitation records have been broken this month so far."

With that being said, we are forecasted to see some rain and thunderstorms this Saturday and Sunday.

"We're looking at pretty nice June days that are right around normal (20 degrees) with some afternoon showers and thunderstorms popping up."

It's predicted Airdrie will see 5-15 mm of rain this weekend, but we will see more next week.

"We do have some unsettled weather in the long-range forecast for early next week. By the time June ends, we could be a lot closer to normal for this time of year."

The day Airdrie saw the most rain was on June 14, when 27mm of rain fell, the record for that day was 33.4 mm in 1992. The most rain recorded in June was 247.6 back in 2005.

Airdrie has ended its fire restriction while Rocky View County and Cochrane ended their fire advisories earlier this week.
