Emergency crews from Cochrane were very busy this afternoon after responding to a collision on Highway 22 south of Highway 1.

The accident involved a semi truck and a pick up truck.

Stuart Brideaux, Public Education Officer with Calgary EMS says there were two people involved in the crash and one of them had to be hospitalized, "the driver in the pick up truck, a male in his mid twenties, did require transport to hospital, he was taken in serious but stable condition."

Thankfully, the driver of the semi-truck was not injured and didn't require assistance from EMS.

Crews also had to attend to a dog who was in the pick up truck, which has since been turned over to Rockyview Bylaw Services.

As a result of the crash, the section of Highway 22 is closed in both directions as crews remain on scene.

At this moment, RCMP are investigating the possible causes of this crash.
