In one of the most thrilling final games in the tournament's history, Team BC won the WHL Cup over Alberta yesterday (October 22nd)

British Columbia claimed Gold in the final game with a 4-3 overtime victory against Alberta, who had gone undefeated before yesterday's game.

Team Alberta captain and Airdrie's Jake Neighbours says the loss is extremely tough, but has no regrets being a part of the team.

"I think we played our hearts out and did everything we could. It comes down to a full 60 minutes, no shifts off. There's a lot of disappointment in that room, but there's 20 new brothers. It is what it is."

When it comes to playing alongside the members of this team, who'd only been together for about a week, Neighbours said it was one of the most closely knit groups he's ever been with.

"They have a lot of skill and they're great guys and that's the most important thing. When you come into tournaments like these, you can't have any egos and we didn't have any. There's 20 guys in there that were all brought into the process. Brothers for a lifetime."

Team Manitoba claimed the bronze medal yesterday with a 4-2 win over Saskatchewan.

Neighbours finished the tournament fourth overall in scoring with 1 goal and 6 assists.

The former Airdrie Xtreme was drafted by the Edmonton Oil Kings last spring and is currently playing with the Calgary Buffaloes of the AMHL.
