This week is a very special week to help support our local small businesses.

Monday the 18th to Friday the 22nd is National Small Business Week.

With having so many local small businesses in Airdrie, Sara Chamberlain, the team lead for the Economic Development Department for the city of Airdrie, wants to make sure our businesses get some appreciation.

“We want to make sure that we celebrate them locally here too, so this year, we really just want to focus on getting some local love to our businesses. It's been a really challenging 18 months.”

The city has a few things lined up that rely on residents and consumers showing some love for small businesses.

“So, we have cyber local Monday, feedback frenzy Wednesday, we have the small Business Week awards. We just have a lot going on to really put a focus on small businesses and what they do for our community.”

Chamberlain went on to say that running any type of business isn't easy but running a small local business is very hard at times.

“I think what businesses really need from the community is just their love and support. So that's, you know, shopping locally when you can. That's writing a review on social media so that other people know how great our small businesses are. It's really just being an advocate and ambassador for our business community.”

Chamberlain continues to say that throughout COVID the city has tried to help small businesses by creating a business support program called “Right for Your Business” and through that they realized that every business needs help in some form of way.
