Some local swimmers got the chance to learn from a Canadian great on Tuesday, October 11th.

Two time Olympic medalist Ryan Cochrane was in town to put on a clinic for the Canadian Badlands Aquatic Club (CBAC).

"Anything I can do to help I think is great, and being able to hopefully motivate for years to come is really ideal and something I think all athletes should be doing." said Cochrane.

The 27-year-old Victoria native has had the opportunity to compete in three Olympic games, winning Silver in London and Bronze in Beijing. He's also Canada's leading medalist in the World Aquatics Championships.

Starting the night off with a session of dry-land warmups, Cochrane then took to the pool to show the young athletes how it's done. The evening wrapped up with some free gear for the swimmers and some motivational advice.

"Don't be afraid to ask for help, don't think that you're doing this alone because to get to the Olympics it took that support team."

Cochrane is currently on a cross Canada tour, stopping at local swimming clubs across the country.
