Environment and Climate Change Canada has placed a snowfall warning for Airdrie and its surrounding area.

The snowfall warning is in effect for:

  • Airdrie
  • Crossfield
  • Bottrel
  • Madden
  • Cochrane

Heavy snow has developed this morning and will continue through the day before tapering off this evening.

Total snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 centimetres are expected.

Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Be prepared to adjust your driving to changing road conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.

There have been reports of vehicles stuck in the ditch along the QEII between Olds and Airdrie.

Tonight, the Canadian Pacific Kansas City Holiday Train will be making its way to Airdrie so if you are heading out to see it, make sure you are bundled up properly.
