All of Alberta has been asking for it, and it looks like Airdrie could be getting rain five out of the next six days.

Stephen Berg, a meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada says much-needed rain is on the way.

"It's looking like possibly 20 to 40 millimetres of rain by Friday, then possibly more over the weekend and onwards."

With the current wildfire situation around Alberta, Berg talked about where this rain can be expected.

"There's going to be quite a bit of rain across a good chunk of the province which is much needed in the north. There will be a fair bit of rain in a decent number of areas in Alberta."

With rain on the way, right now it is forecasted Airdrie could drop down to two degrees on Thursday night.

"Frost is starting to get into the conversation, that's for sure. But it's not looking too likely for that area."

Berg finished off by saying it does look like we will also have much cooler temperatures for the rest of the week compared to what we have had so far.

Right now, the forecast for Wednesday is a high of nine degrees with rain, while Thursday will look the same rain-wise but with a high of 17 degrees. Friday we will get a break from the rain and have a sunny day with a high of 24. It is forecasted the rain will return for the weekend.

Right now, Airdrie is under a fire restriction while Rocky View County is under a fire advisory.
