The sun will come out at Northcott Prairie School starting today. Northcott Prairie School in Hillcrest is putting on a youngster-friendly version of the hit Broadway show, Annie; Annie Junior. The show will debut on March 31 and run till April 1.

The musical begins at 6:30 p.m. and doors will open at 6 p.m. People can buy tickets at the door for cash only. Youth tickets are $5 while adult tickets are $10.

Annie Jr. has all the key components of the Broadway original. Hit songs like “It’s The Hard-Knock life”, “Little girls” and “Tomorrow’ are in the junior version. The main differences between the two musicals are simplifying the script and cutting down on the length.

Parents of students in the program think that this is a great opportunity for the kids.

“I think kids who want to pursue these kinds of things as they grow older, it teaches you the dedication and the professionalism you need,” said Amanda Toth, a parent volunteer for the school production of Annie Jr.

Grade 3 - 8 students who are in the cast and crew have been working on the development of the play since last fall. The students who are on the crew for the play get to learn how to make props and sets for the play.

“I think that's such a great experience for kids to see something other than the standard everyday education things they might see in their classroom,” Toth added.

The funds from their sales of the tickets will go towards funding the drama program and the license of the musical.
