The Airdrie Thunder will hit the road for tonight's (March 7) first game of the Northern Division final in the Heritage Junior Hockey League.  

The Thunder will be in Red Deer to face the Vipers as the two teams open up the best of seven series.

Red Deer finished atop the Northern Division with a 30 - 5 and 1 record for a league-leading 61 points.  The Thunder were second with 50 points based on their 23 - 9 and 4 record.

The Vipers also had the advantage in head-to-head meetings between the two teams, winning three of the four contests they played.

Tonight's game gets underway at 8:30 pm in Red Deer's Servus Arena.  Game two is set for Friday night starting at 8:00 pm in the Ron Ebbesen Arena in Airdrie.

The Southern Final between the Coaldale Copperheads and the Okotoks Bisons also starts tonight in Okotoks.  The two teams should be evenly matched, having finished tied for first in the division with 50 points.
