When you outshoot your opposition 79 - 21 you have to think you're in for a win.

The Airdrie Thunder held the significant margin in shots and came away with a 16 - 2 win over the Three Hills Thrashers who have just one win in the Heritage Junior Hockey League this season.

It was a huge night for several Thunder players including Rylan Plante-Crough who collected seven points with two goals and five assists.

Clay Murray and Dante Raposo each had hattricks with Murray also adding three assists for a six point night in Three Hills.

The win lifts the Thunder to within a single point of the first place Red Deer Vipers in the HJHL Northern Division.

They can pass the Vipers and end 2017 in first with a win against Red Deer tomorrow (December 22) night.

Game time is 8:00 pm at the Ron Ebbesen Arena in Airdrie.
