The top two teams in the Heritage Junior Hockey League's Northern Division during the regular season will meet in the best of seven finals.

The Red Deer Vipers punched their ticket last night (March 2) with a 6 - 1 victory over the Mountainview Colts to take the series three games to one.

Red Deer will now face the Airdrie Thunder who downed Blackfalds three games to one.  Dates for the series have not been set by the HJHL.

Red Deer and Airdrie were in a tight battle for first place in the division for most of the year until the Vipers pulled away near the end of the season and finished with 61 points compared to 50 for the Thunder.

Red Deer won three of the four games between the two clubs this season.
