This week, the Thursday Thunder Player of the Week is 18-year-old rookie Grady Hauk. This is the second time he has been selected for Thursday Thunder Player of the Week.

Hauk, who is from Airdrie grew up playing hockey within the city with teams like the Airdrie Xtreme U15 AAA, AC Avalanche U16 AAA.

The Airdrie Techmation Thunder dropped a pair of games to North Division opponents in the Heritage Junior Hockey League (HJHL) this weekend. They lost to the Mountainview Colts 3-2 on Friday in overtime and 5-3 to the Rocky Rams on Saturday.

"He contributes on the scoreboard night after night and he is becoming a leader in the dressing room," stated Randy Buckle, Heach Coach of the Airdrie Thunder.

So far this season, Hauk has played in 14 games, garnering eight goals and 9 assists for 17 points.

Hauk stated he thought the team had a good chance to win both of these games last weekend, but were just unable to close them out.

"We struggle in the third, if we can figure that out, we will start winning these close games."

Hauk feels like he is playing well for the team, trying to help out offensively and defensively.

"We are still fighting for a playoff spot as it is a super close race, we are not giving up."

While in his rookie season with the Thunder, Hauk does hope he can play with the Thunder again next season.

Airdrie will take an 8-19-3 record into a pair of tough games next weekend.  On Friday night they host the Sylvan Lake Wranglers who hold down first place in the North Division. Sylvan Lake has lost only twice this season.  Game time at the Ron Ebbesen is 8:15 pm.  On Saturday the Thunder make the trip to Okotoks to face the Carstar Bisons for an 8:30 pm game.  Okotoks is 26-3-0 this season, in first place in the South Division.
