Team Plett and Team Sluchinski are both competing in the 2023 PointsBet Invitational which starts tomorrow (September 27) and lasts until October 1. 

Team Plett has two members from the Airdrie area. Myla Plett from Carstairs and Head Coach Blair Lenton who is from Airdrie. Aaron Sluchinski, of Team Sluchinski, is from Airdrie.

The single-elimination tournament will be broadcasted on television through TSN, so you might be able to see the local teams play.

Team Plett, will have a tough task at hand in their first match, as they take on Canadian curling royalty, six-time Canadian Champion (Scotties Tournament of Hearts) and two-time World Champion, Jennifer Jones and her team on Thursday at 12 p.m. local time.

Team Sluchinski will be looking to continue its successful season as they are taking on Team McEwen on Thursday at 5 p.m.

If Team Plett was to win, they would play Friday, at 9:30 a.m., while if Team Sluchinski wins, they would also play Friday, but at 2:30 p.m. 

At any point, if they lose, their time at the tournament will be over.

Team Plett qualified for the Invitational by winning the 2023 Canadian Junior Curling Championships while Team Sluchinski qualified by being a top-10 male team in Canada.

So far this season, Team Plett has partaken in a few tournaments. In December, the team will be travelling to Finland for the World Junior-B Curling Championships to represent Canada.

Team Sluchinski has had a busy schedule so far this season, already winning two different events, The kick-off in Leduc and another event in Beaumont.
