Over the weekend, Airdrionians came out to support local businesses and community organizations during the 2024 Airdrie Home and Lifestyle Show.

The show ran Saturday and Sunday at Genesis Place and drew in thousands of visitors for Airdrie and the surrounding area.

Marilyne Aalhus, Executive Director of the Airdrie Regional Chamber of Commerce said she felt it was a successful event and that visitors had a great time, getting to know more about our community and meeting residents.

"It was so much fun. It is truly one of the best and biggest events of the year. It truly is near and dear to my heart."

This year there were around 170 vendors who provided over 200 booths and took over Genesis Place as local businesses, organizations and community groups promoted what they had to offer in our area.

One of the main attractions at this year's event was the stage in the back corner. While multiple forms of entertainment took place. Visitors loved taking in the games it also showcased, including the Money Tunnel and Price is Right.

"The games were a blast. The community had a lot of fun winning prizes."

Aalhus also said that while the Chamber puts in a ton of work to put this event together each year, it's all worth it because they get to see the businesses and groups involved get this amazing chance to promote themselves and have a ton of fun doing it.

"When you see these businesses having these conversations with their community, or a local nonprofit explaining how people can get involved, there's just nothing better than people connecting in person. We had a few years where we weren't able to (because of COVID-19), so it's so cool to see the community come together."

The Home and Lifestyle show has been running since 1978, and in it's in its 46-year run, like everyone else, it had to take a break during the pandemic. So far there have been 44 annual events, and they plan on doing it all over again next year.

Planning for the next vent will begin right away, starting with surveys to get some feedback and make every event more successful than the last.
