Because of what they call "improving conditions" Rocky View County (RVC) has lifted the Fire Bans that's been in effect for most of April.

The county says in a release that Rocky View County Fire Services has lifted the ban and permit burning is once again allowed and no more bans or advisories are in effect in the county.

The ban went into effect after both RVC and the Cochrane Fire Departments had to battle a large grass fire about 15 km west of Cochrane on April 1st.  The fire was fanned by vicious winds and threatened some homes and businesses in the area. The Town of Cochrane has also lifted the ban that it had in place.

While the fire ban is off for RVC, the county says there could still be bans or advisories in place for neighbouring municipalities and urges you to go to AlbertaFireBans.ca to find out about the rest of the province.

Rocky View County says to always follow safe burning practices.
