Airdrie Public Library starting the move to Inspire
The Airdrie Public Library started its moving process over to Inspire on Wednesday. Earlier this week, it was shared online that the library will have reduced hours, according to the social media post, those include: Mon-Fri: 3-6 p.m. Sat: 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Sun: 1-4 p.m. (Exceptions: Sept. 2-5 → 4-7 p.m. | Sept. 23 → 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.) August 20 was the end of printing services at the library, August 21 saw reduced computer access, and August 31 will be the last day to borrow books in person. Jamie Moorhouse, the donor engagement champion for the library, explained that they have a lot going on right now. "Imagine moving a 16,000 square foot building with 80,000 items in it to have to go to the new place, it is a little daunting." Services still available until September 23 at the library include: Book returns Holds pickup 2 public computers Grab & Go bags Popular Picks Account services Back in April, the APL reached its goal of $1.5 million for its collection expansion for the new library. "There was a little bit of a hiccup with some tariffs that were put on some items that we purchased. So our dollar didn't go quite as far as we'd hoped. But we are still on track to buy everything that we wanted to buy." According to the library, this accomplishment is a result of the amazing cooperation of local citizens, companies, community partners, and library advocates who have united to promote the future of learning, culture, and literacy in Airdrie. Earlier this month, a sneak peek at Inspire was shared as the opening is set for early October. Sign up to get the latest local news headlines delivered directly to your inbox every afternoon.
