As school ended in Rocky View Schools (RVS) for the 2018-2019 school year, plans were being made to get Ralph McCall School in Airdrie off on the right foot for 2019-2020.

School Superintendent Greg Luterbach announced the appointment of Nikki Tysowski as the acting principal of the school effective in August.

Tysowski's journey with RVS began in 2008 when she became a humanities teacher at Bert Church High School.  She was appointed assistant principal of Kathryn School in 2014, and in 2018, assistant principal of Chestermere High School, where she remains today.  Before joining RVS, Tysowski taught English as a Second Language in Taiwan.

As a school administrator, Tysowski has helped champion High School Redesign, the implementation of RVS’ Literacy Framework and the school-wide adoption of the Response to Intervention Model. After a three-year term on RVS’ Procedural Advisory Committee, Tysowski joined the jurisdiction’s Superintendent Design Team on Instructional Design in 2019.

Tysowski obtained a Master of Arts with an Educational Research Specialization in Interpretive Studies from the University of Calgary and also holds a Bachelor of Education from Lakehead University and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Ottawa.

Chair of the RVS Board of Trustees Todd Brand said they were confident that Tysowski will bring a new perspective to the elementary level.
