Airdrie RCMP are still trying to find and identify the driver of an SUV who rear-ended another vehicle then fled on foot just after 6:00 am this morning.  

RCMP responded to the two-vehicle collision on Highway 2 at Highway 567.  A vehicle travelling northbound on Highway 2 was hit from behind by the SUV, causing the rear-ended vehicle to roll.

The lone male driver of the SUV then left the scene on foot.  The driver of the vehicle which was hit was taken to hospital suffering from minor injuries.

The SUV caught fire because of the collision.  The blaze was quickly extinguished with the help of the Airdrie Fire Department.

According to RCMP, the driver of the SUV hasn't been found yet and his identity is not known.

Traffic was diverted for several hours while emergency services cleared the scene.
