On Thursday (March 2), Airdrie RCMP will say farewell to their Officer in Charge.

Insp. Gord Sage is taking a promotion that will take him to Regina, where he will oversee thirty detachments in Southern Saskatchewan.

Insp. Sage said that although he's leaving, he's proud of his time in Airdrie.

"I guess when you look back at the rewarding accomplishments, it's what we've done with the police advisory committee and City offials to grow our detachment to meet in line with the growth of the City."

Sage served in Airdrie as the Officer in Charge for three and a half years. He said he has mixed feelings about leaving, as he's excited for the next stage of his career but will also miss our city.

"It feels very satisfying that what I came to do I accomplished, and Airdrie is in way better shape than it was three years ago."

When it comes to filling the vacancy he'll leave behind, Sage said there is no timeline at the moment.

"As for my replacement, the RCMP in Ottawa, they are in the process of identifying candidates to fill my spot, and of course they do it in consultation with the City of Airdrie, with the Mayor and City Manager."
