It was a night that left many with bated breath, but finally the results from the election showed who will sit in Airdrie's Council Chambers.

Four of the five incumbents running this year were reelected: Ron Chapman, Kelly Hegg, Candice Kolson and Darrell Belyk.

Chapman won his third term as Councillor and was honoured to be reelected.

"I'm humbled, I'm overwhelmed, I've got to thank everybody for supporting me and trusting me for another four years, it's overwhelming."

Kelly Hegg was reelected to his fifth term on city council and says he's looking forward to the road ahead.

"I'm excited to be able to have a chance to represent the citizens of Airdrie. I'm honoured to be able to do this at least one more time."

The same sentiment was echoed by Darrell Belyk, who will soon begin his second term as Councillor. Belyk is looking forward to working with new and familiar faces.

"I'm just humbled to be voted in a second term. We've got a lot of work in front of us and I look forward to being a part of it all."

Those new faces on Council will be Al Jones and Tina Petrow who share their visions and what they plan to do once council begins again.

"I think probably just getting to know one another," says Petrow, "Get a positive atmosphere going so that we can work together and we don't have to have disagreements all the time and really just focus on the citizens and the City."

"I think we're going to have to sit as a council and work out a game plan to come up with some innovative ways to get some of this infrastructure. Looking at different ways of doing things." says Jones.

The six members of council will officially be sworn in on October 23rd.
