The votes have been counted and some new and familiar faces will adorn Airdrie City Council.

After a nearly one hour delay getting the first batch of results in, the votes were counted and those leading for Mayor and Councillor remained unchanged through the night.

At the end of the night, Peter Brown was elected for a third term as Mayor of Airdrie, winning by 1726 votes over Marie Lauer, while former Councillor Fred Burley finished third.

Brown will be joined by four returning Councillors and two new comers.

Incumbents Ron Chapman, Kelly Hegg, Candice Kolson and Darrell Belyk will serve another term on City Council, while Al Jones and Tina Petrow will join them.

Allan Hunter was the only current Councillor to not win his seat, finishing with 2812 votes.

Votes for the RVS Trustees for Airdrie were also counted. Incumbent Todd Brand retained his seat on the school board and will be joined by Melyssa Bowen and former CW Perry Principal Jim Forrest
