Dozens of municipal leaders gathered in Edmonton on March 7th and 8th as part of the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association's Mayors' Caucus.

Mayor Peter Brown attended the meetings, where a variety of topics that affect municipalities were discussed.

While Infrastructure was a big issue, other discussions surfaced around alternative energy sources and the legalization of marijuana, particularly for law enforcement.

There was one matter that Mayor Brown really took to heart, the transition of newly elected councils.

"How they should be run, the things that they can do to change what's currently being done and changes that would make it easier for people who run for office, once they get elected, to really understand their position, their role and how they can better their communities."

Although the summit was a good experience, Mayor Brown said he wished there were more solutions brought forward in the midst of a Donald Trump presidency.

"I would loved to have seen a little bit more...what can Airdrie do, what can Calgary do to mitigate any kind of stuff that they may forecast coming forward that may impact our exports."
