The Airdrie and Area Health Benefits Cooperative (AAHBC) have made some changes to their leadership.

Effective November 1st, Bruce Graham will serve as the new President and CEO, while founding member Dr. Tom Feasby is the Chief Health Officer.

Graham has served in leadership roles for many organizations including Calgary Economic Development, the Rotary Club of Calgary and the Airport Authority Advisory Board.

This will be Graham's first leadership position for an Airdrie board. He explained the reason he's taking on the CEO role is because of the Cooperative's vision.

"That to me, first of all, is what got me excited about what Airdrie is trying to achieve here. The whole notion of owning its own health, being the healthiest community in Canada. Those are very bold and aspirational things that I could not, not want to be a part of."

Graham said he and Dr. Feasby are already working together to further build the AAHBC and address Airdrie's health care needs.

"Tying in all the various support organizations and community organizations that really are critical to having a healthy community and making sure those services are available and delivered."

One of the primary goals for the AAHBC is the development of a health park for the city.

"This will be where we can bring services together, create an environment where people can come and also where we can reach out to the region as a whole and provide cohesive services."

Graham and Feasby hope that more residents will consider membership in the organization as they look to grow.
