If you felt like Airdrie seemed more magical yesterday you would be right.

Yesterday the second annual Pirates and Princess Gala took place at the town and country centre.

Hundreds of Airdrie most magical creatures descended on the event for a family-friendly day of fun.

The event had visits from a super prominent known character such as Bell, The Beast, Elsa and many more princesses and mystical characters.

Event Organizer and City Councilor Tina Petrow says she was happy to see the 2nd year be such a success.

"The first year we did it we thought we would have  medium turn out and we sold out, this year I was anticipating the crowd we had today and I am glad it worked out the way it did."

Tickets were on sale for roughly $20 dollars each with the profits of the event being divided up three ways between local charities Volunteer Airdrie, The Sober Friends Society and Soap For Hope YYC.

"We wanted to do something to benefit our community and Mike, one of our organizers is the person who runs the Sober Friends Society and they are going to be doing a lot of great work for the community. They help people who are coming back from addictions or mental health problems and just want a safe space to hang out with other like-minded people. We are also supporting volunteer Airdrie and we all know they are an amazing organization in the community that will help any and everybody. We are also supporting Soap For Hope YYC."

The event had over 60 volunteers

"Our volunteers came from everywhere, we had people from last year that came back we also recruiting people through different avenues and Amanda from Amanda Amazing Art was also able to help bring us a bunch of great volunteers."
