Last night hundreds from Airdrie and Calgary came to Genesis Place to support the Straschnitzki Family at the #StrazStrong Benefit Concert.

The event through the night as many gathered to have a good time all while supporting Ryan and his rehabilitation.

The Benefit Concert featured performances by Monster Truck, The Matt Blaise Band, Ron Thal, Gilby Clarke and Smitty Kingston who wrote the song 'Stick Out By The Door' in honour of the Humboldt Broncos.

Organizer Cody Thompson says that everything came together for the big event.

"The bands that stepped up, the things that we were able to do have been awesome. Just seeing the amount of support that we got from the music industry, what we got from the media, obviously from the City of Airdrie as well as the City of Calgary. We have a ton of sponsors that have driven out here from Calgary to be a part of this just to support Ryan, it's just incredible."

All funds raised from ticket sales, drink sales and the silent auction will go to Ryan Straschnitzki and his family but Thompson says they won't know that number for quite some time.

"It will probably take us a couple weeks, most of us are going to take a week off before we do anything. this has been a full-time job for us since April 7th. We'll probably have a look at it maybe in about two weeks and then we'll be able to let everybody know just how much we did and what we did."

At the end of the night, to see Airdrie put on a world class show is something that brings a smile to Thompson's face.

"It's been a big deal for us and I think it was a lot for us to show Ryan who hasn't been able to come home yet to get a good understanding of exactly how the city is standing behind him and how the area is standing behind him. I've been asked this a couple times and honestly, I hope we never see something like this again because something like this coming to a small town only happens when there's been a tragedy."
