You'll want to change your clock back an hour before you go to bed tonight, especially after MLAs rejected a bill that would have gotten ride of the twice-yearly time change.

On Monday (October 30) MLAs voted to scrap Bill 203, a bill introduced by Edmonton South West MLA Thomas Dang earlier this year that would have ended daylight savings time once and for all.

The bill, called the Alberta Standard Time Act would have put Alberta on the same time as Saskatchewan year round and one hour ahead of B.C. in the summer and two hours in the winter.

Monday's vote was 46 to six to scrap the bill.

Many people and groups weighed in with their opinions on the merits and drawbacks to Daylight Saving Time.  A survey released in August showed that more than two-thirds of the 13,500 Albertans who responded said the province should get rid of Daylight Saving Time.

However, organizations like the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, the International Airports in Calgary and Edmonton and Westjet, which has its headquarters in Calgary, were very much against the idea.

Now that the ritual of setting clocks twice a year seems to be here to stay, it's almost time to adjust our clocks once again.

Tomorrow (November 5) we "fall back" when we set out clocks back by one hour.  Officially the time to do that is 2:00 am Sunday morning.

Feel free to do it before you head to bed on Saturday night to make up for that hour of sleep that you lost in the spring.
