The Rocky View Show n' Shine, held at W.H. Croxford High School, successfully raised $1400 for the Airdrie Food Bank and the Fort McMurray Firefighters Relief Fund.

The event not only had stunning antique cars, such as Thunderbirds and Chevelles, but also had a few modern vehicles with some modifications done to them.

Students at W.H. Croxford also raised money through the Culinary Arts department by providing food at the fundraiser.

Lena Spicer, a teacher at W.H. Croxford and one of the event organizers, said she was impressed with how well the students did.

"I think just how well they interacted with the public, how professional they were and how friendly really said a lot about how invested they were with it, too."

The money raised from the event will be split 50/50 and presented to the Chinook Winds fire station at the beginning of June to add to the funds the firefighers have raised.

"$700 is going to go to the Airdrie Food Bank, along with some donations that we collected of non-perishable foods and then $700 is going to go across the street to the Airdrie Fire Department," said Spicer.

Plans for next years event are already in place and Spicer is hoping to expand it to accomodate more cars and more visitors.

"We want to get more cars, it would be amazing if we could get the whole lot filled. Also, can we do something for young kids? What can we do to involve them? We had face painting this year, so maybe we can have a little car show with some RC cars or something like that," she said.
