The U18 AAA Airdrie CFR Bisons will return to a very well-known post-Christmas hockey tourney that will take on a new look with new branding this year.

The Bisons will play in the Circle K Classic Tournament, formerly known as the Mac'sU18 AAA Tournament that runs from December 27th, 2022 - January 1st, 2023 in Calgary.

The tournament will host their largest event to date with 32 teams taking part.  They include six Calgary area teams, including the Bisons, as well as other top teams from Alberta, B.C., Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and eastern Canada, along with six U.S. squads and one international club, Team Hungary.  Several teams from the Canadian Sports School Hockey League will also take part.

Tourney organizers say this year the tournament will only feature a male division as an already established December female tournament hosted by Notre Dame takes place in Wilcox, Saskatchewan.

The Bisons have drawn their way into Pool 6 along with the South Kent School, the Regina Canadians and Yale Academy.  In the round-robin portion of the event the Bisons face-off against South Kent on December 27th at 4:00 pm.  They meet Regina on December 28th starting at 10:30 am and will take on Yale Academy in their final round-robin match at 6:15 pm on December 29th.

This season in the U18 Division of the Alberta Elite Hockey League, Airdrie is sitting in eighth place in the South Division with a record of 5-12-1-1.  Their latest game was a 3 - 1 loss yesterday at the hands of the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
