Beginning today, July 27 and lasting for two weeks until August 10, Main Street within the vicinity of the 40th Avenue overpass will experience Northbound and Southbound double-lane closures to accommodate underground stormwater works.

"[Construction] crews will be on site early approx[imately] 6:30 a.m. – 7:00 a.m. Motorists can expect the closure to be in place around this time, by 8:00 a.m. at the latest," The City stated.

The closures come on the heels of the City announcing that Southbound traffic on Kingsview Boulevard S.E. will be reduced to single-lane, two-way traffic for a month, until August 21. Detours are in place. The lane reductions are meant to accommodate underground stormwater construction.

There are also several road detours/ closures due to the work on the 40th Avenue Interchange to QEII, however, work is slated to be completed come October. In early August, the 40th Avenue Over Main Street Bridge should be complete. By the end of August, both the widening of the existing Westbound CPR Bridge as well as the South Point access roadwork are slated for completion as well.
