As soon as Premier Jim Prentice made the official call for a provincial election, many Airdronians had their eye on Mayor Peter Brown.

Brown sits as the candidate for the PC party in the Airdrie riding and he will no doubt have a lot of work to do.

In order to facilitate the time for that work, Mayor Brown asked his fellow Alderman at City Council meeting on Thursday to grant him an unpaid leave of absence as the campaign period begins.

The leave will officially begin at noon on Wednesday, April 8th.

It will be a big step for Airdrie's busiest man, racing for the Alberta legislature, but he's excited.

After city council adjourned Mayor Brown mentioned that the only thing that matters to him in the next three weeks is advocating for "the best city in Canada".

"I don't see us slowing down over the next few years," says Brown who mentioned that the city will need all the support from the provincial government going forward.

Is Peter Brown the best man for the MLA job? He certainly believes so, but regardless of the outcome and who wins in the end, he just wants to make sure the voice of Airdrie residents is heard.
