On Monday, June 19, there will be an outside single-lane closure Northbound on the QEII highway in the vicinity of the 40th Avenue overpass.

The lane closure will start at 9 a.m. and last till 3 p.m. and is meant to facilitate topsoiling operations adjacent to the highway. 

Other lane closures associated with the 40th Avenue interchange will commence in early July; including;

  • Monday, July 3 till Saturday, July 8: Main Street will have lane closures to facilitate deep utility repairs. Hours have yet to be scheduled. 

  • Monday, July 3 till Thursday, August 31: Big Spring Drive; a road closure will be in effect to facilitate deep utility rehabilitation. Hours have yet to be scheduled. 

Other closures that are already in effect include:

  • Saturday, June 17 till Tuesday, June 20: Reynolds Avenue and Cooper's Boulevard: Phase two of utility tie-ins will mean road/lane closures.

  • Until further notice: 40th Avenue and Southpoint LD-CPR Overpass: The North bridge deck will be closed and traffic will be detoured onto the new South bridge deck to accommodate construction on the existing North bridge deck. 

According to The City of Airdrie, several milestones are scheduled to be completed this summer. On July 27, Main Street work and lane closures will be completed, while on August 3 work will be completed at the 40th Avenue bridge over Main Street. By August 30, the widening of the existing Westbound CPR bridge will also be complete. on August 31, both South Point access road work as well as Reynolds Gate to CPR Bridge road work will also be completed. 

The overpass is slated to be completed in October 2023.
