The Sundre Minor Hockey Association has posted a statement online after it was revealed that Mounties charged a minor hockey volunteer with sexual assault

The statement, which appears to be from Amber Jenkins, the Vice-President of the Association underlined that they are aware that a volunteer who acted in an executive role with the board, is currently under investigation by the RCMP.

"While the allegations are not related to hockey activities or Sundre Minor Hockey, we have removed this individual from the board while the matter is before the courts. To be clear, the accused was not a coach, manager or otherwise directly involved in the delivery of hockey programming to the kids of the association. To protect the integrity of the ongoing police investigation, we will not be making further comment," the statement, which was posted to the hockey association's Facebook page, read.

Yesterday, Sundre RCMP stated that 32-year-old Alexa Suitor was arrested and charged following an investigation after Mounties were made aware of a complaint of an alleged sexual assault involving a volunteer with the Sundre Minor Hockey Association.

"RCMP initiated an investigation and determined that there were four victims, all male teenagers," police said.

Suitor has been charged with four counts of Making Sexually Explicit material available to a child, as well as Sexual Interference and Sexual Assault. She will be appearing in Didsbury court on April 22, though following a Judicial Interim Release Hearing Suitor was released on conditions.

Police underlined that as the matter is now before the courts, and to protect the victim's privacy, no further information will be released.
