This week, the Thursday Thunder Player of the Week for the Airdrie Techmation Thunder is 19-year-old Kyran Gromnisky.

Gromnisky, originally from Lethbridge, spent his younger years playing in the area before making his way to play with the Thunder.

"Grom led his team in scoring this past weekend and showed some great leadership qualities," stated Airdrie Thunder Head Coach Randy Buckle.

This past Friday, the Airdrie Thunder suffered their seventh loss of the early season which dropped their record 0-7. On Saturday, against the Three Hills Thrashers, the Thunder came home with a 3-2 win for their first win of the season. Their record now sits at 1-7.

"We're struggling a little bit to start the season. I want to win as many games as we possibly can and hopefully, that starts to happen here soon," stated Gromnisky.

He currently leads the team in points, with seven, four goals and three assists. Gromnisky credits his teammates for his early season success.

"It's all with help from my linemates; Kyle Shoemaker is big on the back end, he's always helping out on the scoring."

Gromnisky does have one more junior hockey year after this season. He is uncertain about what the future holds just yet though.

The Thunder returns home to host their North Division rival Mountainview Colts on Friday night.  The Colts have a 4-2-1 record, good for a first-place tie in the North with Sylvan Lake.  The Wranglers have a game in hand.
